About us

Our story

Lotto-Intermarché is an international cycling organization, with our modern Service Course in Temse as its beating heart. From this operational base, we manage our WorldTour, Ladies, and Development teams.

Cycling is in Belgium's DNA. Over here, it is not a sport you choose; it is woven into the culture, the landscapes, and the people. From the cobblestones of the Flemish Ardennes to the steep Walloon climbs, from the local kermesse races to the Tour of Flanders: every Belgian understands racing from the inside out. That shared passion is our starting point.

Building on those roots, we are creating something that lasts. We don't just believe in buying champions, but in identifying talent and carefully developing it. Our philosophy is one of trust, structure, and long-term thinking. We aim to create an environment where riders don't just become faster, but smarter, more resilient, and more complete athletes.

This approach translates into a recognizable racing style. We don't just sit in the wheels and wait. We anticipate, animate, and dare to strike. With tactical ingenuity, collective discipline, and an uncompromising fighting spirit, we challenge teams that outgun us on paper and go all-in for the win.

That is the essence of Lotto-Intermarché: united by a boundless love for the sport, offensive by nature, and driven by the conviction that tomorrow's best riders are already out there racing today.

Mission and Vision

Our Mission: Turning Potential into Performance

We are building a collective that goes far beyond the riders on the bikes. Our mission is to identify the greatest talent, both on and off the bike, and bring them together in a high-performance environment centered on structured growth and shared ambition. We make the race, rather than simply reacting to it.

Our Vision: The Ultimate Challenger in the WorldTour

We strive to become the most respected, development-driven team in the professional peloton. We firmly believe that flawless preparation, precision, and a tight-knit team spirit can overcome sheer budget. As the ultimate dark horse, we are always ready to disrupt the hierarchy, challenge the giants of the sport, and claim our place at the top.

Our teams

World Team

Our WorldTour squad competes at the absolute highest level of professional cycling. From the unforgiving cobblestones of the Spring Classics to the grueling mountain stages of the Grand Tours: this is where our philosophy faces its ultimate test.

With 30 riders representing 10 nationalities, our roster perfectly reflects the international reach of our team.
Out of all 18 WorldTour teams, we have the youngest average age: the ultimate confirmation of our development philosophy. 17 of our 30 riders come directly from Lotto-Intermarché's own development structure. They are the living proof that our system works.

Ladies Team

Developing world-class athletes isn't limited to our men's squad. Historically, our women’s structure has been an essential springboard for several of the sport's biggest stars, playing a crucial role in the development of riders like Lotte Kopecky and Jolien D'hoore. Over the years, our women's team has also linked its name to the biggest victories in women's cycling, culminating in Grace Verbeke's triumph in the Tour of Flanders.

Today, we are fiercely determined to continue that very legacy. Our recent promotion to the ProTeam level is the direct result of a steady, ambitious rise, securing our place in the most prestigious races on the calendar. We are systematically building a new generation of riders who race with our signature attacking mentality, ready to challenge the elite and write the next chapter of our history.

Devo Team

This is where it all begins. The Lotto-Groupe Wanty Development Team is one of the most respected talent factories in the world, forming the crucial bridge where raw potential is forged into professional excellence. For us, talent development is not an afterthought; it is the beating heart of everything we do.

The numbers speak for themselves: in the past three years alone, 15 riders have stepped up from our development squad to the professional peloton. Names like Tim Wellens, Maxim Van Gils, Florian Vermeersch, Arnaud De Lie, and Jarno Widar are no coincidence. They are the result of a proven vision. Today, they are established names at the pinnacle of cycling. And the next generation is already waiting in the wings.

Our history

Lotto-Intermarché brings together two of the most enduring stories in Belgian cycling.

The Lotto story began in 1985, when the National Lottery attached its name to a professional cycling team, triggering one of the longest and most successful sponsorships in the history of the sport. In the decades that followed, the Lotto teams grew into a fixture at the world's biggest races. It became a true breeding ground where legends like Johan Museeuw and Philippe Gilbert earned their stripes, and where the next generation takes flight. It is a legacy built on the unyielding grinta of riders like Thomas De Gendt with his legendary 200-kilometer solo breakaways, combined with the lethal precision that delivered 84 Grand Tour stage victories thanks to icons like Greipel, McEwen, and Ewan. Alongside 41 stage wins in the Tour de France and three overall podium finishes, the Lotto teams conquered Monuments like the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, building an undeniable reputation in global cycling.

The second story had more humble beginnings. In 1974, a small amateur club called Vélo Club d'Ath was founded in Wallonia with a simple mission: to introduce young people to the sport of cycling. From those modest origins, Intermarché-Wanty systematically climbed every rung of professional cycling: from a Continental team to a ProTeam, and ultimately reaching the WorldTour in 2021. What followed exceeded all expectations: in 2023, the team even briefly topped the UCI World Ranking, a milestone no one could have dreamed of when that small Walloon club was founded. History was also made on the road: Biniam Girmay became the first African rider to win a cobbled classic with an impressive victory in Gent-Wevelgem, and added a historic green jersey in the Tour de France to that list in 2024. Additionally, iconic races like the Amstel Gold Race and stages in all three Grand Tours were added to their account.

Two very different origins. Two distinct paths. But united by the exact same racing philosophy: a refusal to give up.

At the end of 2025, the core of Intermarché-Wanty reinforced the Captains of Cycling structure. Two rich cycling histories, one shared foundation, and a collective ambition to take the fight to the absolute world top in the years to come.
