Development Matys Grisel wins Tour de Namur
The fifth and final stage promised to be the hardest, 165 kilometers from Beauraing to Namur with 2400 altitude meters. A breakaway of six riders took a maximum advantage of 5 minutes. The Lotto Dstny Devo Team immediately took the control in the bunch. In the final some attacks still came, but within the last kilometer everything came together and a sprint with 50 riders would decide the winner of the day. Thijs Aerts (Wanty-ReUz-Technord) was the fastest. Matys Grisel sprinted to a seventh place, securing the win of the general, points and youth classification.
“I’m super happy to take home the yellow, green and white jersey”, a very satisfied Matys Grisel says. “I would have never succeeded without the work of my teammates the whole week. I never thought in the beginning of the week I would be able to win the general classification. My legs were really good. Even again today my team did a perfect job to control the race, it’s promising for the next races.”
