ProTeam Signing announcement: Young talent Steffen De Schuyteneer turns pro with Lotto Dstny
After Robin Orins, Joshua Giddings, and Lorenz Van de Wynkele, Steffen De Schuyteneer now also strengthens Lotto Dstny's pro team. The stage winner of the recent Giro Next Gen has signed a contract until 2027, further highlighting the team’s youthful identity. "Since joining the Development Team this year, I’ve built a warm relationship with everyone," says De Schuyteneer. "The staff here means a lot to me, and I’ve developed a good bond with my teammates in that short time. The team feels like home."
De Schuyteneer is a major talent and that hasn't gone unnoticed. This season, not only did he win the fifth stage of the prestigious Giro Next Gen, but he also claimed two stage victories and the overall classification at the H4A Beloftenweekend, as well as the youth classification at the Tour du Loir et Cher. "I hope to continue developing myself as a classics rider. My roots are in the Flemish Ardennes, where I started cycling and watching races as a young boy. It’s a dream of mine to one day win the Tour of Flanders or Paris-Roubaix."
"Next season, I’ll definitely still ride some races with the U23 team, like Paris-Roubaix, but I’ll also start to experience the pro peloton. I'll be able to go on altitude training camps, which I’ve never done before, and receive even more guidance in terms of training... I still have a lot of steps to take, but I believe Lotto Dstny is the best place for me to do that. "
Lotto Dstny's CEO Stéphane Heulot is pleased to once again connect a young talent from the team's own ranks to the pro team of Lotto Dstny. "This is what we stand for and what we have been working so hard on over the past few years. Seeing that effort pay off today with yet another top talent, after Robin Orins, Joshua Giddings, and Lorenz Van de Wynkele, makes me optimistic about the future of our team. We look forward to discovering everything Steffen has to offer."
