Development Steffen De Schuyteneer takes green jersey in the West Bohemia Tour

In the second stage in Klatovy six riders escaped, in the bunch the Lotto Dstny Development Team took the control with Victor Vaneeckhoutte in the leader’s jersey. “On the longest climb of the day, the Zhůří, we also took the control in our hands and reached the top with a smaller peloton. The breakaway exploded as well and Lars Vanden Heede (Soudal - Quick-Step Devo Team) went solo for the last 30 kilometers”, Steffen De Schuyteneer explains.

“Other teams started to help us at the front of the bunch, which made the gap go smaller and eventually Vanden Heede only just reached the finish line a few meters before us. I’m a bit disappointed that I just miss out on a possible victory, as I still won the bunch sprint. Tars (Poelvoorde) and Victor gave me a great leadout, it was nice to see Victor working for me in the leader’s jersey.”

“I take the green jersey, and Victor is still in the lead in the general and youth classification. Tomorrow it’s a less hard stage, but still going up and down, we will see how it goes. The race still has to be ridden.”
