Ladies Thalita de Jong takes second victory in a row in Tour Féminin de l'Ardèche

The second stage of the Tour de l’Ardèche went from Tournon-sur-Rhône to Mauves, with almost 1200 altitude meters. Thalita de Jong appeared at the start with the pink jersey, and proved once again to be the strongest by taking her second victory in a row.

“2 out of 2 is just fantastic. It was a rainy day, but quite calm actually with some attacks in the beginning which I countered immediately. The rain made it very dangerous, especially in the technical descents there were some crashes unfortunately. In the last descent some riders also took risks, I just chose my own lines and arrived safely down with the first riders. Eventually we ended up going to the finish with 14 riders or so where I win the sprint”, a very satisfied de Jong said.

“I remain in the lead in the general classification, but it’s not over yet. Today I arrived safely at the finish. Tomorrow it’s a longer stage, but less hard. Maybe a group will ride away, but normally it should be a more easy stage.”
