ProTeam Andreas Kron sprints to 3rd place in stage 1 of Tour de Luxembourg
"Of course, I would have liked to win, but when you see the two guys- Mathieu van der Poel and Christophe Laporte- who finished ahead of me… I can be very satisfied with this third place," said Andreas Kron. "It’s a great start, and it feels really good to be back."
The stage, which started and finished in Luxembourg City, was tough from the beginning. "The early breakaway got seven minutes, and at one point, I thought they might actually make it to the finish, but then the peloton really started to chase hard. We eventually caught them, but the pace remained high, without any real attacks. It was all about positioning in the end. The team did a perfect job with that."
"With 300 meters to go, I decided to go all out and see where that would take me. It got me third place (laughs). I’m very happy with this start, but I hope to take a win at some point this week."
