ProTeam Steffen De Schuyteneer wins second stage at the Tour of Taihu Lake
The second stage of the Tour of Taihu Lake was a short one, of only 78 kilometers. The Lotto Dstny Team was motivated to go for a good result, after a hectic first day yesterday. Steffen De Schuyteneer showed his fast legs at the finish and took his first pro win.
“This is a beautiful team win, I felt strong but also my teammates did a great job. It was a fast stage, despite the headwind we have an average of 48km/h. There was a breakaway of 6 riders, in the final we really rode strong collectively to close the gap, which happened. That moment we knew we would be going to a bunch sprint, where we had Milan (Menten) of course and I had a free role.”
“I also take the youth jersey and I’m second in the general classification on 3 seconds, we will take it day by day. Normally we have three more sprints, and with the strong team we have we can definitely go for some other nice results. For myself I’ll see how I feel the next days, but we are still very eager to go for more.”
