The Simac Ladies Tour started and finished in Doetinchem, Netherlands, on Saturday. "The peloton didn't really push the pace at the start," De Keersmaeker recounted. "There were a few attack attempts, but none of them really stuck. After 63 kilometers, I was told from the car to give it a try myself. Katrijn (De Clercq) brought me to the front, I made a move, and managed to stay away."

Audrey De Keersmaeker was eventually caught at kilometer 125, around 15 kilometers from the finish. "I tried to maintain a strong pace throughout, though I must say it was a lonely day, being out front alone (laughs). It was tough, but in the end, the effort paid off. I was able to take the red jersey for combativity. Katrijn, with the help of Alberte (Greve), still sprinted to a ninth place finish. It was a good day for the team."
