Ladies Romina Hinojosa looks forward to her debut in the Tour of Flanders: "A dream come true"

The most important Flemish cycling week reaches its pinnacle tomorrow with the Tour of Flanders. For many female cyclists, it is the highlight of the season, but for Romina Hinojosa (22), it promises to be an even more meaningful day. She will experience the iconic race for the first time.
Race 05 April 2025

Romina has prepared well for the Tour of Flanders and during Dwars door Vlaanderen, she proved that the Flemish hills and cobbled sections suit her. “The roads in Mexico and Belgium are very different. However, my experience in Mexico somehow prepared me for the chaos of Belgian races. The famous climbs and cobbled sections create a lot of chaos, but honestly, I enjoy that,” she says with a big smile.

Flanders' Finest excites cycling fans in Flanders, but also far beyond. Romina hopes that her participation, as the second Mexican cyclist ever in this classic, will open doors for young talent in Mexico and beyond. She wants to inspire them to follow their own cycling dreams. “Racing as a Mexican in Europe is not a given, but it has always been my big dream, and dreams are there to be chased. I hope to inspire other Latin American boys and girls with a passion for cycling to give it their all and fight for their goals.”

Romina hopes to stay at the front for as long as possible: “I know it will be tough, but I want to fully immerse myself in the experience. It’s not just about achieving a good result, but also about learning from the best and discovering my own potential. I'm really looking forward to it and the fact that we get to wear a special outfit for Lotto's 40th anniversary makes it even more memorable.
