ProTeam Milan Menten sprints to third place in stage two of Boucles de la Mayenne
After a prologue and a hot first stage, the riders in Boucles de la Mayenne were faced today with the queen stage. 213 kilometers and over 4,000 meters of climbing, under temperatures once again reaching 30 degrees, made for another tough ride. Baptiste Veistroffer joined the day’s breakaway. “Logan (Currie) and I were in the group behind with around forty riders,” said Milan Menten after the finish.
The early breakaway was caught 13 kilometers from the line. “We ended up with a finale where two riders went on the attack. There was a third rider between them. Logan dropped me off with 400 meters to go, and I didn’t hesitate. Everyone was spent, it was all or nothing. We managed to catch that third rider, and in the sprint, no one could come around me. Looking back, it’s a bit of a shame we finished just five seconds behind the first two, but we definitely got the most out of it. I’m satisfied with the feeling.”
Unfortunately, Jasper De Buyst had to abandon the race early today. He’s feeling sick. We wish him a speedy recovery.
