ProTeam Strong third place for Elia Viviani in Elfstedenronde

It was no surprise that Elia Viviani was the team’s designated leader for the Elfstedenronde. The fast race, with start and finish in Bruges, once again promised a bunch sprint- and the team played their cards well, with Viviani finishing a strong third. “We were right where we needed to be at the key moments,” Viviani explained. “The finale was chaotic, but the connection between me and my lead-out man Cedric (Beullens) keeps getting better with every race. We found each other two corners from the finish, with 2.4 kilometers to go, and were actually in a very good position. After the roundabout with one kilometer left, we managed to settle near Jasper Philipsen- an ideal spot for me. There was still a small gap that opened up, so I could only watch as Philipsen and Paul Magnier sprinted for first and second. But I'm really pleased with third place. The team did an outstanding job, and it feels great to be on the podium next to those two riders.”
