ProTeam Lotto Cycling Team and Make-A-Wish Belgium-Flanders fulfill Andreas’s heartfelt wish
A ride in the Tour de France, behind the scenes with the Lotto Cycling Team, following as a VIP: that was Andreas’s biggest dream. Andreas is 16 and until recently was a cyclist himself. Unfortunately, he had to put that dream on hold due to a serious illness. But thanks to the team and Make-A-Wish Belgium-Flanders, which fulfills the heartfelt wishes of children aged 3 to 18 with life-threatening conditions, he was able to enjoy the atmosphere of the peloton again for an entire day.
Last Sunday, during stage two of the Tour, between Lauwin-Planque and Boulogne-sur-Mer, Andreas and his family were picked up early in the morning by volunteers from Make-A-Wish. At the start, Lotto VIP driver Geert Wellens was waiting for them to give them a close-up view of the team buses, the start area, and the Village de Départ. Together with the team, they were able to follow the race throughout the day. The day ended at the team’s hotel, where Andreas waited for the team bus and returned home fulfilled, with a bunch of selfies and a beautiful gift package from the team.
