Development Impressive climbing puts Kamiel Eeman on the podium in Tour Alsace
Milan Donie and teammate Lorenz Van de Wynkele were part of the breakaway. With 24 kilometers to go, Van de Wynkele launched a powerful attack that split the leading group. Milan Donie decided to make his move and went solo. His attack lasted until 8 kilometers from the finish line, when he was eventually reeled back in.
The race was ultimately decided on the slopes of the Planche des Belles Filles. Eeman was well positioned and seized his moment. "Liam kept me perfectly at the front all day. I felt strong and attacked two kilometers before the base of the climb", Eeman said. "After that, it was just about giving everything I had left in the tank."
The attack paid off. In a thinned-out group, Eeman held his ground and secured a third place - a result that he is proud of: "There were quite a few doubts after a difficult Giro Valle d'Aosta. Ongoing back problems also made things tough. So to be able to finish third today really means a lot."
Tomorrow, the fourth stage awaits between Ferrette and Altkirch. With a sequence of short, punchy climbs, it looks to be a promising day for the punchers.
