Development Dominant team performance at Hel van Voerendaal as Mauro Cuylits takes the win
The Hel van Voerendaal featured nothing less than 42 climbs and a total distance of 167 kilometers through the area of Voerendaal and Valkenburg. Our riders were prepared for a hard battle over the Dutch roads: “It was a very tough race with a lot of elevation”, Mauro Cuylits confirms.
Our team was immediately strongly represented in the breakaway. Four of our riders made it into the large group of about 20 riders. “As we were in the breakaway with a few team mates, we could play around a bit”, Cuylits smiles afterwards.
Already early on in the race Cuylits realized that his legs were on point today: “Early on in the race, I already noticed that my legs were feeling very good. So I decided to save my energy and not to take too many risks.” Eventually, at 200 meters from the finish line, Mauro managed to escape with three others and managed to sprint to a strong win. “I am very happy that I could win this sprint. It was a very exciting race and the whole team was super strong. So I am very satisfied to finish it off like we did.”
With Victor Vaneeckhoutte finishing in fourth, Matys Grisel in seventh and Lucas Van Gils in ninth position, our Development team continues to confirm its upward trajectory this season.
