Development Second place for Victor Van de Putte in GP Stad Torhout

“Right from the start I felt I had good legs,” said Victor Van de Putte. “Tars (Poelvoorde, ed.) and I followed every move smoothly, but with two laps to go, two riders from Tarteletto-Isorex attacked and Tars didn’t have an immediate response. I managed to go with them… but then unfortunately a third Tarteletto rider joined as well. Not ideal (laughs).”

“I tried to do my share of the work with those guys without taking on too much. But in the last five kilometers they kept attacking me. Each time I was able to respond, but by the sprint I had already spent so much energy that one of them turned out to be stronger. At least I did everything I could to make sure I didn’t miss out on the podium, that was something I really didn’t want to let slip. Second place is nice. I had the legs to win, but this time the race situation wasn’t in my favor.”
