Algemeen Lotto-Intermarché and the Van Moer Logistics Cycling Team join forces in the search for tomorrow’s talent
Identifying talent at a young age, developing it, allowing riders to progress at their own pace, and offering the best possible guidance and opportunities has been one of Lotto-Intermarché’s core missions in recent years. From Arnaud De Lie to Jarno Widar, all are the result of intensive collaboration with youth teams, followed by a successful transition through the development team to the professional ranks. Over the past five seasons, more than 25 riders have made the step up to the professional peloton in this way. Alongside the long-standing Wanty-Gobert Cycling Academy project in the south of the country, developed in collaboration with ADEPS, the Ministry of Sport of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, and Wallonie-Bruxelles Cycling, Lotto-Intermarché is now also strengthening its presence in the north of the country by partnering with the Van Moer Logistics Cycling Team. Working with youth teams has proven effective and remains essential in the search for tomorrow’s talent.
Jean-François Bourlart, General Manager of Lotto-Intermarché: “The link between the Van Moer Logistics Cycling Team and Lotto-Intermarché is twofold. At the moment, several U19 riders are given the opportunity to join the training camp of our Lotto–Groupe Wanty Development Team in Spain. They train and live alongside the team, following its rhythm. Throughout the season, there will also be logistical cooperation, for example during time trial tests and championships. Thanks to this new partnership — which complements our work in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles through the Wanty-Gobert Cycling Academy — we are reinforcing our position as one of the most forward-thinking teams in talent development.”
Kurt Van de Wouwer, Sports Manager of Lotto-Intermarché: “Beyond the logistical aspect, the focus of this partnership is of course also on talent development. The more than 25 professional riders we have developed over the past five years are the result of intensive and precise scouting. Thanks to a collaboration like this with a junior and U23 team, we have a unique opportunity to identify promising young riders at an early age and guide them towards a professional career within our development structure and, hopefully later on, our WorldTour team.”
Bjorn Van Berghen, Van Moer Logistics Cycling Team: “The junior category is our core business. But the key question has always been: what comes next? For a long time, we couldn’t provide an answer to that — until now, thanks to this partnership with Lotto-Intermarché. We are extremely pleased with this development, which also further boosts the motivation of our riders. In 2025, the Van Moer Logistics Cycling Team won the team classification of the Belgian Cup, while Witse Bertels, who has since progressed to the Lotto–Groupe Wanty Development Team, won the individual classification. There is clear potential within this group, and I’m confident our talents will no longer go unnoticed.”
