Good news for the Intermarché-Lotto Ladies, as after a year of absence they will return to the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift next summer. “This is a very nice step for our team.”

Fourteen WorldTeams and seven ProTeams will line up at the start of the Tour de France Femmes on August 1 this year. Among that impressive line-up: our Intermarché-Lotto Ladies. This year’s women’s Tour will start in Lausanne, Switzerland, and will consist of nine challenging stages.

Jean-François Bourlart, CEO of Lotto-Intermarché, is particularly pleased that our ladies are back after a year away. “Thanks to the step up from continental to procontinental level, we will once again be able to field a team in the biggest race in women’s cycling next summer,” he says enthusiastically. “This is another important step forward in the development and visibility of our women’s team. We have a very young squad, but it will be an incredible experience for them.”

The fifth edition of the Tour de France Femmes promises to be especially demanding this year, with plenty of work for climbers and punchers. Only the second stage seems suited to the sprinters. The race will also feature a finish on Mont Ventoux this year. The final stage will take place in Nice, where the Col d’Èze will have to be conquered four times.

Sports director Grace Verbeke expects an extremely tough Tour, but is also very proud that the Intermarché-Lotto Ladies- who will once again race in France wearing a ‘reversed’ jersey to increase the visibility of main sponsor Intermarché- are back and can send seven riders: “This is the step we wanted to take, to be able to add the Tour to our programme alongside the Vuelta,” she explains. “In terms of depth, it will be about becoming even stronger, but we have a solid core that can work well towards this goal. Riding for the general classification is not our aim, but our riders can learn a great deal there. You have to start somewhere and this participation is a very nice step. It shows that we want to keep growing.”
