Stage 2 of Tour du Rwanda proved to be an important and demanding day for the general classification contenders. The stage delivered a selective, explosive finale with about 20 riders, where the final kilometers gradually climbed before leading into a flat 500-meter sprint to the finish line.

The objective was clear: protect our general classification ambitions while sprinting for a top result. Sports Director Kurt Van de Wouwer emphasized the importance of the day: “We’ve come here with three riders who should be able to compete for the General Classification. So today was a really important day to not lose any time. The goal was to sprint with Mauro (Cuylits) but also make sure that Reuben (Thompson), Lucas (Van Gils) and Duarte (Marivoet) would not lose too much time. I am really satisfied with the three top 10 finishes after today’s stage.”

While the competition includes several strong formations, the team remains confident in its collective strength and tactical clarity. “On paper, we are not the strongest team present. But that doesn’t mean we can’t show ourselves out there. We have a very strong and wide team here at the start so I am sure we will still be able to do some great things”, Van de Wouwer added.

With three riders safely positioned and confidence building after today’s performance, the team heads into the next stages motivated and ambitious.
