ProTeam Lotto–Intermarché opens Tour de Taiwan with two top-10 finishes

Lotto–Intermarché got its Tour de Taiwan campaign off to a strong start, as the opening stage immediately delivered two top-10 finishes. Thibaut Bernard sprinted to fourth place, while Matys Grisel finished sixth.
Race 15 March 2026

The first stage of the Tour de Taiwan, starting and finishing in Taipei City, was only 80 kilometres long. A flat stage, perfectly suited to the sprinters. “We actually rode a very good race,” said Thibaut Bernard. “Lorenz (Van de Wynkele) and Shunsuke (Imamura) kept everything well under control throughout the race. However, there was a crash in the final kilometre, which caused Matys Grisel, myself and Matthew Fox to lose each other’s wheel a bit.”

In the chaos, Bernard still managed to sprint to fourth place, while Grisel secured sixth. “Unfortunately Matthew was no longer able to sprint, but in the end we still achieved a good result here thanks to great teamwork.”

The Tour de Taiwan consists of five stages and runs until 19 March.
