ProTeam Steffen De Schuyteneer sprints to fourth place in the Bredene Koksijde Classic

Lotto-Intermarché played an active role in the Bredene Koksijde Classic this afternoon. Cedric Beullens was part of the breakaway of the day. “Thanks to him, we hardly had to do any work in the peloton,” said Steffen De Schuyteneer. “Roel (van Sintmaartensdijk) kept me out of the wind all day, and in the final I could count on Joshua (Giddings) and Vito (Braet).”

De Schuyteneer ultimately had to settle for fourth place. “In the final, I lost Josh. In the penultimate corner, I found him again and he was still able to do his lead-out for me. It was close, but I think fourth place was the best possible result. I’m a bit disappointed, but I’ve learned a lot again. I didn’t just give in. I’ll take that into the next race on Wednesday, when I’ll ride the Tour of Bruges.”
