Development Halvor Dolven confirms strong form with top-ten finish in In Flanders Fields U23

Halvor Dolven secured a strong eighth place in In Flanders Fields U23. With this new top-ten result, Dolven once again confirmed the excellent form he has shown in recent weeks. “We showed that we have one of the strongest U23 teams in the peloton.”

Gent–Wevelgem- nowadays known as In Flanders Fields- held its U23 edition today in Ieper/Kattekoers. With Halvor Dolven, Keije Solen, Mauro Cuylits, Tuur Verbeeck and Victor Vaneeckhoutte, Lotto-Groupe Wanty clearly had a very strong line-up on paper at the start, and that became evident during the race as well.

“We showed some really good things,” said Halvor Dolven, who also claimed a stage victory in the Tour de Bretagne at the end of April. “Actually, we’ve been showing that consistently over the past few weeks. We proved that we are one of the best U23 teams in the peloton, and we can be proud of that.”

Halvor Dolven eventually finished eighth in In Flanders Fields U23. “To be honest, there might have been more possible today. I was one of the strongest riders on the Kemmelberg. But in the finale I made a slightly wrong decision, which left me too far back for the sprint. That cost me a better result. Still, I’m very pleased with what we showed today. The way Tuur Verbeeck raced today was impressive for someone his age. Now a period of rest is coming up, but I’m already looking forward to the next races with this team.”
