The team started the second stage with a clear plan. "Our goal was to let a small breakaway go, then control the race and set up a bunch sprint. That way we could protect Tars' leader's jersey while also giving ourselves a chance to fight for the stage win."

It took some time before the right breakaway was established, but eventually four riders were allowed to go clear. From that moment on, Lotto-Groupe Wanty had the race completely under control. "We controlled the race from start to finish and managed to bring it down to a bunch sprint."

In the closing kilometres, the team then delivered a perfect lead-out. "From three kilometres to go, we were well grouped at the front and able to keep the speed extremely high. We set such a hard pace that nobody was able to come around us, allowing me to take the victory. I definitely owe this win to perfect teamwork."

With two stage victories in as many days, Lotto-Groupe Wanty is enjoying an excellent Tour of Flemish Brabant.
