Development Another stage victory for Mathias De Keersmaeker, Lotto-Groupe Wanty remains unbeatable in the Ronde van Vlaams-Brabant
Just like the day before, Lotto-Groupe Wanty started the stage with a clear race plan. "We planned to let a small breakaway go and then control the race. Once again, the whole team executed that plan perfectly today."
A four-man breakaway established an early lead, but the yellow-and-red squad kept the gap under control throughout the race. "A group of four riders went clear, but we kept them within reach all day. With two laps to go, we brought them back and headed towards another bunch sprint."
In the final kilometres, Lotto-Groupe Wanty repeated the successful formula from stage two. The team took control from three kilometres to go, setting such a high pace that no one could come around them. "Just like yesterday, we positioned ourselves perfectly. From three kilometres to go, we kept the speed high and didn't allow anyone to come past. I entered the final corner in the perfect position with 300 metres to go and sprinted to my second consecutive victory—and the team's third in a row."
With three consecutive stage wins, Lotto-Groupe Wanty has confirmed its outstanding form in the Ronde van Vlaams-Brabant. "This is fantastic for the team and gives us a lot of confidence heading into the final two stages. Once again, I owe this victory to outstanding teamwork," De Keersmaeker concluded.
