Development Keije Solen and Victor Van de Putte deliver another one-two finish for Lotto-Groupe Wanty in the Tour de Namur
Lotto-Groupe Wanty immediately took control of the race from the start. “From the very first moment, we had the race under control. Shunsuke Imamura, together with Victor Vaneeckhoutte and Victor Van de Putte, did an excellent job keeping everything under control. Halvor Dolven was also clearly having a good day and was constantly attentive at the front,” Solen explains.
Even when the race opened up, the team remained well represented throughout. “Mauro Cuylits and I followed the different attacks every time. That showed that we both had good legs and are in good shape.”
In the end, the stage came down to a sprint. According to Solen, the collective effort was once again the key to success. “From four kilometres to go, Tuur Verbeeck took care of an impressive lead-out. That was really outstanding. Afterwards, Victor Van de Putte brought me perfectly into the final hundreds of metres. That allowed us to finish first and second quite convincingly. We can only be very satisfied with this team performance,” Solen concludes.
