Development Keije Solen sprints to victory in final stage of Flanders Tomorrow Tour
After 163 kilometres, starting and finishing in Nieuwpoort, the final stage of the Flanders Tomorrow Tour came down to a bunch sprint. Lotto-Groupe Wanty perfectly finished off a full day of teamwork, with Keije Solen beating Liam Van Bylen and Nathan Cusack in the sprint. The victory felt even sweeter after a missed opportunity the day before. “Three breakaway riders stayed ahead yesterday, which was a bit frustrating”, says Solen, who eventually finished fourth in stage two. “Fortunately, things turned out completely differently today.”
Lotto-Groupe Wanty took responsibility in the final stage and did everything it could to set Solen up for the sprint. “It really was the perfect race”, Solen says. “Everyone did their job perfectly. Witse (Bertels) knew exactly what he had to do, Duarte (Marivoet) rode on the front for me, and Halvor (Dolven) and Tuur (Verbeeck) guided me towards the finish. Everything fell into place today.”
Solen then finished off the team’s work with a convincing sprint. “I’m incredibly proud of this team and, above all, very grateful for all the work everyone did for me."
