Ladies Linda Riedmann wins Binche-Chimay-Binche in impressive fashion

Linda Riedmann has won Binche-Chimay-Binche– and in some style. Riedmann was the first to launch on the cobbles in Binche and held on all the way to the line. It is her third victory of the season. “I had studied everything beforehand, so I knew exactly when I wanted to go.”
Race 06 October 2026

The uphill cobbled stretch towards the finish is perfectly suited to Linda Riedmann. After winning the Muurclassic in Geraardsbergen at the beginning of September, Riedmann repeated the feat today in Binche. The 23-year-old German was the first to launch, producing an impressively long sprint to take the victory. “That was a tough one,” Riedmann says. “It already starts with the positioning before the cobbles. In the final lap, we were left with a group of six riders and at one point things slowed down a little. I had studied the finish carefully beforehand. I knew I had to be the first to go, just before the cobbles. I’m so happy it worked out.”

The Lotto-Intermarché women put on an impressive display of teamwork in Binche. For almost the entire race, they kept tight control of the peloton, with a sprint in mind. With forty kilometres remaining, a group of seven riders went clear, including Marieke Meert. The seven entered the final 25 kilometres with a lead of half a minute, but during the final local lap it quickly became clear that Binche-Chimay-Binche 2026 would come down to a powerful sprint.

“I had already won this season at the Volta a Portugal (2.2) and the Muurclassic (1.2), but Binche-Chimay-Binche, as a 1.1 race, is another step up and I’m particularly proud of that. I didn’t expect to be able to win here against riders such as Charlotte Kool, Letizia Borghesi or Pfeiffer Georgi. A lot of our sponsors are also here today, which makes this victory even more special. This was a very important race for our team, so I’m really happy that I could finish it off like this.”
