ProTeam Lionel Taminiaux sprints strongly to fourth place in Koolskamp

The breakaway of the day consisted of three riders, who gained around three minutes on the bunch, where there were some crashes. In the final 10 kilometers a crash caused nervosity, with a group of 20 riders or so separating them. In the end in the back a group joined the front again and a bunch sprint was in the making, where Lionel Taminiaux finished fourth.

“I’m happy with the 4th place, as there were lots of sprinters here. I didn’t expect to finish that close, just unfortunate that I miss out on the podium. In the last 10 kilometers there was a crash just in front of me which made it hectic, but I could just avoid being in it. Then we were in the front with a couple of 20 riders, in the back some teams had to close the gap and I could save some energy. When the riders from the back joined us again, I was in a good position already and Joshua (Giddings) did a great effort in the last km. This weekend I still do the SUPER 8 Classic, where the finish is super close to my home, and the Gooikse Pijl.”
