Race 27 September 2024
The first stage of the Tour d'Eure-et-Loir turned into a crosswind stage, with an early breakaway gaining up to five minutes on the peloton. "It wasn’t an easy race today," Steffen De Schuyteneer reflected. "Initially, three of us from the team were well positioned at the front, but then Victor Vaneeckhoutte had mechanical problems and Matys Grisel suffered a flat tire. In the final, we were able to catch the early breakaway riders one by one, but in the last ten kilometers, I also had to deal with a slow puncture."

In the remaining group of twenty riders, attacks kept coming. "But of course, you can’t respond to everything. Eventually, four riders got away, and I found myself in seventh place going into the last corner—way too far back, of course. I managed to sprint to sixth place, but that was the best I could do today. Hopefully, there will be more opportunities in the next two days."
