Development Mauro Cuylits takes first win at Tour d'Eure-et-Loir

“The past two stages had been hard already due to the cold weather. After 5 kilometers a group of 12 riders or so escaped, where we had Victor (Vaneeckhoutte) and Lorenz (Van de Wynkele). Lorenz there secured the win of the mountain jersey, which was already successful for us”, Mauro Cuylits explains.

“On 30 kilometers from the finish everything came back together, but there were only 40 riders left. For the sprint we had two cards with Matys (Grisel) and Steffen (De Schuyteneer). I still worked for them until two kilometers to go and there I thought my race was over. But then half of the peloton took the wrong turn, it wasn’t that clear where we had to go and I was riding in the right direction with 15 riders. I take the win in the end, I’m super happy with that and I will never forget how it went, as it's quite a story. I had a good season until now, I worked a lot for the team and now at the end of the season I really have a good feeling. Next week I'll still ride Il Lombardia U23, hopefully we can also take a nice result there with the team."
