Despite the fierce competition, our team showed strong team work today on the 230 km's long course through Binche. Arjen Livyns spend a day in the early breakaway and showed once again how strong his form is. He looks back satisfied on this years’ national championships: “It’s been a good race for me personally”, he says. “Maybe I was lacking a bit of trust after being in the breakaway today. But in general I am very happy with how the race went. In the end, we are racing against the best riders of the world, so it is not a shame to end in fourth position.”

"I did surprise myself in a good way today," he added. "I already felt that my shape was good since Switzerland. That was also a full week of hard racing and hot temperatures. Looking back, it was the perfect preparation for me. This week, I noticed that my form is very good, so I am happy that it was confirmed today with this fourth place."

Despite his good form and hard fought fourth place, Arjen also acknowledged the challenges of racing against the best riders in the field: "Of course you enter this race with the idea of winning with your team." he says. "At the crucial moment, I unfortunately didn’t manage to join. And in the end, everyone knows that if Remco (Evenepoel) gets upfront, it is hard to get back to him. It does also make sense that if he is in your group, you let him do some work as well and you don’t just lead him towards that finish line. And sometimes someone else can take advantage of that. But in the end, Tim (Wellens) rode a very strong race today so we all suffered.”

With three riders finishing in the top ten, we leave Binche proud of the team effort and look ahead positively to the upcoming races.
