Development Lotto impresses in Brussel-Zepperen, Mauro Cuylits takes the win
First, second, fourth, fifth, and seventh place: all claimed by Lotto Cycling Team this afternoon in Brussel-Zepperen. Mauro Cuylits (20) brought home the flowers. Tars Poelvoorde finished second, Liam Van Bylen- last year’s winner- came fourth, Milan De Ceuster took fifth, and Aldo Taillieu came in seventh. An impressive list, to say the least. "We really delivered an outstanding team performance today," said Mauro Cuylits. "The course was tough, and the heat made it a challenging day, but we really took control of the race. Already in the first hour, we managed to open up the race and a lead group of fourteen riders formed, including four of us."
The breakaway group managed to extend its lead and worked well together. "In the final, Liam (Van Bylen) was able to get away first, which allowed us to put pressure on the other teams from behind. Then Tars and I got away together, while Liam and Milan took care of blocking behind. In the end, I was able to take the win. But honestly, we all wanted each other to win today. We were just so strong as a team."
