Development Jarno Widar triumphs for the second day in a row in Italy
Stage 4 of Giro della Valle d'Aosta took the riders on a challenging 160.6-kilometer journey from Saint-Pierre to Valsavarenche, featuring a highly demanding 4,485 meters of climbing. To make it even tougher, the riders battled through difficult weather conditions throughout the whole day. Widar acknowledged the difficulty of the stage: “It really wasn’t an easy ride. The rain, the constant elevation, and a final climb where it was hard to make a real difference made it a tough day on the bike.”
Once again, our Development Team played a crucial role in shaping the race. Their control at the front of the peloton limited any serious attacks and allowed Widar to bide his time. “No one really dared to make attackt us, which allowed me to ride calmly at the front and control the race,” he explained afterwards. “Because of that, I was able to stay focused the whole time and concentrate on one decisive acceleration.”
As the Giro della Valle d'Aosta progresses, Widar continues to demonstrate his form and determination. After crossing the finish line, his thoughts turned immediately to his friend Samuele Privitera, who tragically passed away after the first stage. "Once again: this one is for Samuele", he said visibly moved after his win.
