Development A week of team strength and success in Tour de Namur
This week was far from easy, with challenging stages that required both tactical discipline and consistent team work. From early on, our riders took control of the race and defended key positions. “As a team, we can look back on a very successful week”, Sports Director Alfdan De Decker reflects. “It weren’t the easiest races in the past four days. This week was an important week for our riders in terms of learning how to perform under pressure and learning how to take control of a race. The fact that we managed to win with three different riders only makes it more satisfying. So as sports director, I can say that I am very proud of these boys.”
For Victor Van de Putte, this marks the first General Classification win of his career. “It’s been a fantastic week, especially in terms of performance that the team showed. For me personally, it is the first classification win so that gives a really nice feeling. The whole team worked really hard this week. We were always at the right place at the right time. Without Tars (Poelvoorde) and Leon (Taillieu), we wouldn’t have been able to do this. They rode very hard the whole week, controlling the race."
With a victory in the General Classification and the Points Classification for Victor Van de Putte and the Youth Classification for Lucas Van Gils, the team leaves the Tour de Namur with confidence for the remainder of the season. “I am looking forward to the last road races this season and hopefully we can end it on a high”, Victor Van de Putte looks forward optimistically.
