Development Liam Van Bylen concludes final stage of West Bohemia Tour with third place
Victor Vaneeckhoutte started the third and final stage of the West Bohemia Tour in second place in the general classification, so the team did everything to try to move up one more spot. “Everything went according to plan,” says Liam Van Bylen. “Victor scored the first points. For the second bonus, a group broke away that we had to catch, and we managed to do that as well.”
Unfortunately, things went wrong after that. Victor Vaneeckhoutte crashed along with other riders and even had to abandon the race. “The race was neutralized for about an hour and a half. It felt very strange to keep riding, but Leon (Taillieu, ed.) pulled me through it. I really wanted to win for Victor, but in the last 500 meters, I had to hit the brakes due to another crash, which dashed my chances… Third was the best I could achieve today.”
Matys Grisel also ended up finishing in a respectable fifth place.
