The Tour de l’Avenir, often referred to as the “Tour de France for U23 riders”, came to a close today. In the morning stage through La Rosière, Widar sprinted to victory, gaining valuable seconds for the general classification. “We rode very aggressively as a team today. In the end, I just had to finish off the hard work with the sprint,” Widar reflects.

In the afternoon, riders faced a 10.3-kilometer time trial from Montvalezan to La Rosière. With the general classification still wide open at the start, Widar put in a strong ride to finish third. This result secured him second place overall, just behind Paul Seixas (Decathlon–AG2R La Mondiale). “Of course, I’m a little disappointed that I couldn’t close the gap to Paul (Seixas). Finishing second always feels a bit like losing,” Widar admitted. “But I also know I should be happy with my performance and the hard work the whole team put in over the past week.”
