ProTeam Steffen De Schuyteneer sprints to 4th place, Mauro Cuylits still leader in Istanbul
Stage two of the Tour of Istanbul, starting and finishing in Arnavutköy, did not go smoothly today. Due to heavy rainfall and slippery roads, the first hour and a half of the race was neutralized. The second part of the stage was also plagued by rain. “As a result, times were taken at five kilometers from the finish,” explained Steffen De Schuyteneer.
The stage eventually came down to a sprint. “Unfortunately, I was held up a bit 200 meters from the line, which cost me my momentum, so fourth place was the best possible result,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mauro Cuylits remains the leader in Istanbul, with a 10-second advantage over the rider in second place in the general classification.
