ProTeam Milan Menten sprints to third place in second stage of Tour de Slovaquie

The stage was marked by a strong pace on the climbs, with the team from Visma - Lease a bike setting a relentless tempo. Menten managed to hang on and fought his way to the front in the finale, thanks to hard work done by his team mates. In the sprint, he secured a third place just behind Paul Magnier and Lukáš Kubiš. “The plan was to sprint with Liam, but the stage turned out to be tougher than expected. The team from Visma - Lease a bike pushed the pace hard on the climbs, and I just managed to survive. In the finale, the team worked really hard to keep me in the best possible position, and I was able to finish third in the sprint behind Magnier and Kubiš,” Milan reflects on his race.

“I’m quite happy with this result, especially since I was sick for a whole week after the Tour of Britain. Today was all about character, and hopefully I’ll continue to feel better in the coming days.”

With Liam Van Bylen finishing fourth in the opening stage and Menten now securing a podium, the team continues to prove its strength at the front of the race. Tomorrow, Menten will also line up in the points jersey for the third stage, a 191.7-kilometer route from Kežmarok to Banská Bystrica.
