The final 30 kilometers of stage 5 through Arnhem saw Segaert launch an attack alongside Huub Artz (Intermarché-Wanty) and Cameron Rogers (Lidl-Trek) — all three renowned time trialists.  In the closing kilometers, Danny Van Poppel bridged across. The group cooperated well, keeping the chasing peloton at bay and setting up an exciting sprint for the line. “Even though we never got more than 20 seconds advantage, we rotated very well. It was a nice group to go to the finish line with”, Segaert looks back.

Despite his best efforts, Segaert crossed the finish in third place. For Alec, the final stage in Arnhem marked not only the end of the season but also his final race with the team. “I really felt that it was possible to win today. But in the end I am satisfied with my third place here. I really wanted to win so I could end my time in the team on a high.”

After several successful seasons marked by growth and many achievements to be proud of, his strong ride and third place finish was a beautiful farewell. As team we bid him farewell with lots of pride and gratitude, wishing him every success in the next chapter of his career.
