Stage one had already been promising, with two top-ten finishes but just missing out on the podium for Lotto–Intermarché. In the second stage of the Tour de Taiwan they did make it count: Matthew Fox secured his first professional victory in Jiaobanshan Park. Matys Grisel- who had already finished sixth yesterday- completed the podium with third place. “I’m really happy to take my very first professional victory in the colours of Lotto–Intermarché,” said Fox. “We were well positioned throughout the entire day. Shunsuke (Imamura) and Thibaut (Bernard) were able to control the race constantly and made sure we were perfectly positioned on the key climbs. Thanks to them, Matys and I could start the final as fresh as possible.”

“In the last ten kilometres Matys and I raced very attentively. We followed every move that was made. When I wanted to launch my lead-out in the final kilometre, Matys unfortunately lost my wheel. So we had to take a bit of a gamble. I took the final corner at full speed and just kept going. With success. Once again we delivered a strong team performance here, and I really hope we can continue riding on this momentum throughout the week. That would be great.”
