ProTeam Matys Grisel delivers second victory for Lotto–Intermarché in Taiwan
Lotto–Intermarché is on a roll in Taiwan, as after Matthew Fox’s win yesterday, there was another reason to celebrate today. This time it was Matys Grisel who sprinted convincingly to victory. “I had really good legs,” Grisel explained. “So I’m very happy that it paid off with a win today.”
The third stage, from the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum to Kaohsiung National Stadium, was far from straightforward for the team, which also had to defend Fox’s leader’s jersey. “There were attacks all day long. It was really hard to control the race. Lorenz (Van de Wynkele), Shunsuke (Imamura) and Thibaut (Bernard) did an incredible job.”
In the final, Fox and Grisel were left as the team’s two options. “Initially, the plan was to sprint for Matthew, but he said he was a bit on his limit after yesterday. So in the end we decided to go for me. We played it perfectly.”
Matys Grisel also takes over the leader’s jersey from Matthew Fox. Fox now sits second in the general classification.
