ProTeam Lotto-Intermarché motivated to take on Itzulia Basque Country
The Basque Country is known for its tough terrain and passionate crowds, and this year’s edition will be no different. It’s a place where racing becomes all about character. And that’s exactly how we intend to approach the week. Baptiste Veistroffer, Felix Ørn-Kristoff, Georg Zimmermann, Mathieu Kockelmann, Matthew Fox, Reuben Thompson, and Robin Orins will represent the team across the six stages through the homelands of Orbea.
Racing on the home roads of Orbea adds another layer of meaning to the upcoming week. A motivation to be visible, to ride with intent, to match the character of the place with the way we race and to honor the Orbea brand.
“The Basque Country is the place of Orbea. So we are really proud to be racing in their area for the upcoming week. We are keen to represent the brand and honor them as best as we can”, Baptiste Veistroffer highlights.
After an ever-present role in the breakaways at the Tour of Catalunya, Veistroffer arrives in the Basque Country already tuned to the rhythm of Spanish racing: “I’ve been in Spain now for quite some time. Catalunya was a really nice experience as we really managed to colour the race, which was fun to do. I really enjoyed it! We are looking forward to racing Itzulia with not too much stress, luckily. Even though we are not here with a full climbers team, we are motivated to show our best selves out there again.”
With this mindset, the team aims to be visible during the week, take initiative where possible, and make the most of the opportunities this demanding race presents.
