Ladies Katrijn De Clercq caps off a strong sprint with victory in Heurne

Katrijn De Clercq claimed victory yesterday in Heurne, a round of the Ladies Cycling Trophy. After 84 kilometres of racing over fourteen local laps, the race came down to a bunch sprint, in which our rider proved to be the fastest.

“There were quite a few attacks despite the heat,” De Clercq said after the finish. “I also tried a few times to make the difference, but it was hard to get away. In the final two laps it became clear it would come down to a sprint.”

With that scenario in mind, De Clercq positioned herself perfectly in the closing kilometres. In the sprint, she powered to victory ahead of Anna Dubier and Lotte Baele.

“I had a clear run and was able to launch my sprint at the right moment. I’m very happy with how it went. This win also gives confidence for the upcoming races.”

With this success, Katrijn De Clercq has secured another fine victory for Lotto-Intermarché Ladies, following Sandrine Tas’s win earlier this week in the Bretagne Ladies Tour.
