Ladies Strong team performance delivers stage win and overall podium at the Volta a Portugal Feminina

Our Intermarché–Lotto Ladies can look back on a successful Volta a Portugal Feminina. After five days of racing, the team returns home with a stage victory thanks to Linda Riedmann, the mountains classification, and a third place in the overall standings for Annelies Nijssen. The final day, however, brought a bitter note after Nijssen crashed inside the last three kilometres.
Race 05 July 2026

The race started promisingly, with the team making its presence felt throughout the five days through aggressive racing and strong teamwork. The reward came in stage four, where Linda Riedmann proved the fastest in the sprint of a reduced peloton after a tough finale.

Annelies Nijssen also rode a remarkably consistent race. She secured third place in the general classification and also claimed the mountains jersey, a reward for her strong climbing performances throughout the week.

However, her Volta a Portugal ended in disappointment. Nijssen crashed within the final three kilometres of the closing stage. Due to UCI regulations, she did not lose time in the general classification and retained her third place overall. She will undergo further medical examinations and follow-up to determine the exact nature and severity of her injuries.

Despite the setback on the final day, Lotto Intermarché can look back with pride on a successful week in Portugal. With a stage win, an overall podium, a mountains classification victory, and a strong collective performance, the team once again confirmed its good form, one month ahead of the start of the Tour de France Femmes.
