Development Keije Solen sprints to victory in Tour de Namur
"It was a tough day, but for the first time in a long while I was back in the first group and that gave me confidence,"explained stage winner Keije Solen afterwards. "When Halvor Dolven and later Mauro Cuylits made the jump across to the front, we were in the perfect situation. We kept pushing hard, but because Mauro was high up in the classification, we were not given any space and the move was brought back."
A new breakaway never managed to form, meaning a group of around forty to fifty riders headed towards the finish together. There, Solen perfectly finished off the work of his teammates. "Of course, I am very happy with this victory. To finish first and second is obviously a fantastic result for the team."
With Solen on the top step of the podium and Cuylits finishing second, Lotto-Groupe Wanty enjoyed a perfect day. Cuylits takes over the leader’s jersey thanks to his second place today and yesterday’s result in the opening stage.
