ProTeam Milan Menten fourth in Tour of Istanbul
On the third day the riders crossed 113 kilometers between Beykoz and Polonezköy. “We wanted to be in the breakaway, but TotalEnergies didn’t let us go”, Milan Menten explains. “After 50 kilometers a breakaway of four riders was formed. In the last 20 kilometers, there was still one rider in the front so we also helped to close the gap. The finish today was hard, 3 kilometers uphill. In the end I could hold on quite long in the first group of 15 riders or so where Liam (Slock) and Johannes (Adamietz) were also present, but 3 riders separated them and I still became 4th in the sprint.”
“Maybe I should have had some more confidence, but I’m happy with today’s performance. Burgaudeau was very strong, as a specialist puncheur. Tomorrow should be a sprint so we will go full for that and defend mine and Liam’s 5th and 6th spot in GC. We expect rain which could make it tricky, so we will see how that will go.”
