Development Matys Grisel sprints to impressive fourth place in the Tour de Bretagne
The fourth stage promised a hilly course, and that quickly became apparent. With 80 kilometers to go, the peloton split into two groups. Matys Grisel and Arne Baers were in the front group, steadily closing in on the early breakaway riders. Forty kilometers later, Matys attacked from the peloton with three others and joined the leaders, forming a front group of nine riders. "It was one of my best days in the Tour de Bretagne," Grisel reflected. "I felt really good, and the legs were strong."
With ten kilometers to go, Grisel tried to attack again with three others, but the move was neutralized. Eventually, two riders managed to break away, and Matys won the sprint of the chasing group. "I made a few mistakes in the finale, which prevented me from fighting for the win," Grisel admitted honestly. "But I'm happy that I was able to win the sprint from the group." Despite a slight disappointment about the final outcome, Grisel mainly retains a positive feeling about his strong performance.
