Ladies Elisabeth Ebras remains Estonian champion for another year
For a while, there was even some discussion about who exactly had earned the right to wear the blue-black-white jersey. The margin between Elisabeth Ebras, Laura Lizette Sander, and Aidi Gerde Tuisk, who finished third, was incredibly small. In the end, however, Ebras was declared the winner. As a result, the Lotto-Intermarché Ladies rider will have the honour of wearing her champion’s jersey for another year.
“This was not an easy edition,” she explained. “Mentally, it was much tougher than physically this year. We had a completely flat course, an easy race in itself, and there wasn’t any wind either. Since I didn’t have a team with me—I don’t have any compatriots on the squad—it was a completely different kind of racing for me, of course. I didn’t want to respond to the attacks aimed at forming the breakaway and preferred to leave that work to riders who did have teammates with them. That’s not my usual approach, but I had no other choice if I wanted to win this race. I’m very happy that it worked out, although it was incredibly close.”
